Strips and Stripes

Are you one of those quilters who loves stripes but doesn't know quite what to do with them? Have a lot of stripes in your stash? This is the quilt for you. This project will feature your stripes and directional fabrics in an easy format to create a striking geometric design. The foundation of this quilt is a nine patch. Using solids and stripes you will assemble 6 inch squares into 18 inch nine patches. Fancy strip piecing lends interest to the nine patch centers to create a truly interesting quilt.

Materials needed:
Sewing machine in good working order and basic sewing supplies. 24" ruler, rotary cutter. Cutting station provided.

Fabrics:
Stripes - you can use all kinds of stripes. Choose your favorites. Bright woven stripes. Traditional stripes. Modern graphic stripes. International stripes from India, Guatemala or Africa. They don't have to be all from the same fabric line.

Directional Designs - you might have some fabrics that are not exactly stripes, have have strong directional designs. These are great too.

Solids - choose some solids that coordinate with the stripes you are working with. We will use these in strip piecing and to add contrast to the centers.

Get ready to have fun!
