Woven Star

Woven Star
This is a fun pattern with lots of potential. The Woven Star is intricate enough to provide visual interest and keep you engaged but simple enough that you can devote yourself to finding your favorite color and pattern combinations. You can make all of your stars all with the same color combination or you can go scrappy for a wild and crazy quilt. This pattern uses two methods for construction. The checkerboard centers are made with quick strip piecing. After you make your strip sets, you will cut them into slices and assemble them into the checkerboards. The star points are paper pieced. This is a great class for skill building and experimentation. The class will include the square star as well as a new round star version.

This class is appropriate for all levels. Prior experience with paper piecing is a plus but not necessary.

Materials List:

Students should bring a rotary cutter, mat and 24-inch ruler, and a sewing machine in good working order with thread and threaded bobbin. This pattern is appropriate for yardage, fat quarters and even scraps. This is a chance to experiment with color and patterns. You can choose a specific color scheme or opt for a scrappy combination of colors and patterns. Anything goes!
